The Mayoral Design Forum was a collaboration between Point Line Projects and Design For Pittsburgh. Design for Pittsburgh approached PLP with a goal of asking the mayoral candidates in the Pittsburgh 2021 election a question: What is the next mayor’s vision for the design and planning of Pittsburgh? We wanted to reinforce the fact that the built environment is never a neutral space - it shapes so many aspects of our lives.

Led by Bruce Chan and I, the team came up with a set of seven questions about empowered communities, affordable housing, sustainability, and historic preservation. Drafted questions were sent to other designers and community members for input (not as many as we'd like because of a quick turnaround time), edited, and sent out to candidates. After the candidates’ answers were receieved, they were formatted into both a printable newsletter (in English and Spanish) and onto a site launched for design for pittsburgh - designforpgh.com.
